Nickelodeon TV stars host benefit for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital

The casts of Nickelodeon’s hit comedy shows, “iCarly” and “Victorious,” will host a benefit event May 14 at The Peabody Hotel Memphis to raise money for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital

Dan Schneider, who created and is executive producer of both shows, organized the event to give back to his hometown and help children in need.

“I’ve seen the miracle that is St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital first-hand and I’m excited to be able to support them through our event at the Peabody Memphis” said Schneider, who grew up in Memphis.

The “Stars for the Kids” event will feature a live and silent auction in which many unique experiences, including walk-on roles and V.I.P. set tours for both popular shows, will be offered up for auction.

Ticketed guests will be able to socialize with the iCarly and Victorious cast members, get autographs, and take pictures with them.

“Dan has shown an unwavering commitment to helping the kids of St. Jude by putting on this event, and we truly appreciate all of the cast members who are giving their time and talent to support the lifesaving mission of St. Jude,” said Richard C. Shadyac Jr., CEO of ALSAC, the fundraising organization of St. Jude.

“Stars for the Kids” is sponsored by Schneider and his Schneider’s Bakery Production Co. in association with Ali’s Way and The Peabody Memphis. All proceeds will benefit St. Jude.

Tickets for the event, $150 for adults and $75 for kids 17 and under, are on sale at StarsfortheKids.com.

Both iCarly and Victorious rank among today’s most popular youth entertainment programs. Last year, iCarly was Nickelodeon’s No. 1 show among kids ages 6-14. Since its launch in April 2010, Victorious has been the No. 1 live-action comedy series in its time slot on all of TV among viewers ages 6-17.

iCarly’s cast includes Miranda Cosgrove, Jennette McCurdy, Nathan Kress, Jerry Trainor and Noah Munck. The cast of Victorious is Victoria Justice, Leon Thomas, Matt Bennett, Liz Gillies, Ariana Grande, Avan Jogia and Daniella Monet. All will participate in the event.

St. Jude was named the nation’s top children’s cancer hospital in the 2010-11 Best Children’s Hospitals rankings published by U.S. News & World Report.
