Tonight on American Idol the top three contestants on American Idol will perform on stage for America to determine who will be the finalists.
The top three contestants are Lauren Alaina, Haley Reinhart and Scotty McCreery. Since last week on Idol they have gotten a chance to perform in their hometowns. This is a tradition on Idol that the top three go to their hometowns to perform a concert.
McCreery traveled to his hometown Garner, North Carolina to perform a concert. He got a surprise visit from his musical hero Josh Turner. Before his concert he visited his high school and a grocery store that he used to work at. He also threw out the first pitch at a sold out North Carolina State baseball game. This week on American Idol he will be singing Kenny Rodgers’ “She Believes in Me.”
Alaina visited her hometown Rosville, GA and got a chance to talk with survivors of the tornadoes that swept through the south earlier this month. During the day she was in a parade, she visited her high school and was presented the key to the city of Chattanooga. Then she performed a concert for over 10,000 of her fans in Coolidge Park. She ended the day with singing “God Bless America” at a minor league baseball game. She will be singing Lee Ann Womack’s “I Hope You Dance” tonight on American Idol.
Reinhart visited her hometown Wheeling, Il; the city is just a half-hour from Chicago. During the day she visited her alma mater, Wheeling High School. Then she visited Wheeling Aquatic Center that is where she used to work. She ended the day performing a concert at Arlington Park, which is where last year’s Idol winner, Lee DeWyze, performed when he visited his hometown. This week on American Idol Reinhart will be singing Alanis Morissette’s “You Oughta Know”.
