Demi Lovato: 'cyber-bullying is unacceptable'

Troubled actress Demi Lovato has slammed 'cyber-bullies' for poking fun at those who suffer from eating disorders.

The former Sonny with a Chance star, who herself suffers from bulimia, took to Twitter to air her grievances about the social stigma that has become attached to the disease.

"I wish there wasn't so much pressure on society to be thin," Lovato tweeted yesterday. "It makes recovery so much harder.

"My heart goes out to any and all women who deal with this daily battle," the actress continued. "I can't stand it when people make fun of the diseases so many people struggle from."

Lovato soon received a number of positive messages from fans and within a short space of time "StayStrongDemiLovato" had become a worldwide trending topic on Twitter.

"Along with making fun of illnesses or diseases, doing it over the internet only makes you more of a coward," Lovato later added. "Not to mention you've performed the act of cyber-bullying, something that is equally wrong and unacceptable."

The actress spent three months in a rehabilitation center towards the end of 2010, receiving treatment for a number of emotional issues, and has since confirmed that she suffers from bulimia and bipolar disorder.

Last month Lovato revealed that she would not be returning to Sonny With A Chance, and would instead focus solely on her music career.Source URL: http://collectors45.blogspot.com/2011/05/demi-lovato-is-unacceptable.html
