Politicians get ready to sing with Swift

Lady Gaga may have over 12 million Twitter followers and country/pop crooner Taylor Swift a mere 7 million-ish, but Swift and her clothing not made out of meat is mighty popular with the politicians.

The Sunlight Foundation’s Party Time blog reported that seven lawmakers are holding fundraisers at Swift’s Tuesday and Wednesday night shows in Washington. Republican Senator John Thune and Republican Reps. Jo Bonner, Michael Grimm, Tom Price and Kay Granger will listen to Swift croon about her ex-boyfriends on Tuesday, as will Democrat Heath Shuler.

On Wednesday, Republican Rep. Paul Broun will sway to the sounds of Swift.

If you want to sing "Tim McGraw" with a lawmaker rather than your 12-year-old daughter, tickets will cost you "$1,000 for two individual tickets with Kay Granger to $3,500 for two PAC tickets with John Thune," Sunlight reported.

The princess of country’s seven fundraisers beats out Lady Gaga’s pull with the politicians. Sen. Tom Harkin and Reps. Ed Towns and David Cicilline held fundraisers at Gaga’s D.C. concert in February and Sen. Frank Lautenberg fundraised alongside the little monsters last September.
