Scotty McCreery hasn’t had a break since he was announced the winner of American Idol. He’s done countless performances and made appearances all over the country. Even so, he is still hard at work on his much anticipated debut album.
“Right now, we are still in the process of picking songs and recording songs and laying down vocals,” Scotty told Yahoo. “The process is going really well and I’m excited about it.”
Fans most likely won’t be seeing any original songs from Scotty on his first CD, however. “Hopefully on the next couple albums. I’m writing, but not quick enough to get it on the album,” he admitted. “I’ve been so busy after the show that I haven’t been able to sit on the couch and relax.”
So far, he’s been able to record five songs for the album. “We have a couple of really good songs that speak to small town America,” he said. “There’s a love song … when we heard the demo, my mom started crying. It touched her.”
Although he continues to follow a jam-packed schedule, he is doing exactly what he wants to be doing. “It’s fun work. This isn’t going to the office and sitting behind a desk. This is singing for a living.”
Fans can see Scotty and other American Idol finalists like Lauren Alaina and Haley Reinhart on the American Idols Live tour.
